A Cyclist's Perspective

I'm Marcus, and I've spent the better part of a decade exploring Austria on two wheels. What started as weekend escapes from Vienna turned into a full-blown obsession with documenting every route I've ridden.

This isn't another generic travel blog. Here you'll find the routes I've actually cycled - with honest assessments of difficulty, real photos from my trips, and practical advice that guidebooks won't tell you. Like the fact that the Wachau section of the Danube path gets painfully crowded on summer weekends, or that the climb before Bad Ischl is steeper than any map suggests.

Whether you're planning your first Austrian cycling trip or looking for new routes to conquer, I hope my experiences help you have better adventures.

Challenging

Salzkammergut Lakes Loop

270 km 5-7 days

Tauern Radweg

Following the Salzach River from the glaciers to Salzburg. The first half demands respect - real mountain terrain. But by day three, you're rewarded with 100km of mostly downhill riverside bliss.
